The boat left today at 9:00 for the long trip back to “civilization”…2 hour boat ride, 2 hour bus ride, lunch at the same place we had had breakfast a few days ago, and then the bus ride to San Jose. Once in San Jose we transferred to a van and were at the airport hotel by around 4:00. Our flight leaves tonight a little after midnight so our stay in the hotel will be devoted to packing, showering and getting ready for the flight home.
We are staying
at a Hampton Inn at the airport and there is a Denny’s right across the parking
lot. Can’t get away from American
companies no matter where you go.
We didn't actually go to bed at the Hampton Inn. We showered and did a last bit of rearranging and then were at the airport around 10:00. Our flight leaves shortly after midnight. We both hate red-eye flights but it is what it is.
The flight is only about 6 hours and although we are in first class the seats only lean back slightly...no beds or footrests. Bummer. Neither us slept much at all. Mary said she had just gotten into an almost decent doze when the flight attendants came on over the intercom looking for a medical professional for on on board medical emergency. There were several announcements but we didn't divert to an airport so hopefully the person is ok. But we really didn't get any sleep.
We arrived at LAX, got our luggage, checked into Southwest for a flight to Las Vegas and we were in our condo about 1:00. First order of business was placing an order for groceries.
Thus ends our great vacation to Costa Rica. As they say in Costa Rica...Pura Vida.
